Guides for WindChat on iOS, Android, and the web
1. Getting started
Install WindChat from the App Store or Google Play, or open windchat.net in a browser. Create an account with your phone number, verify the one-time code, and set a password. After sign-in you can update your display name and profile photo.
2. Account and sign-in
Sign in with the phone number you registered. If you forget your password, use password reset from the login screen and confirm the OTP sent to your phone. You can keep more than one account on the same device and switch between them in Profile. For security, end unused sessions from the security settings when available.
3. Chats and messages
Open Chats to see conversations. Start a new chat from Contacts or by scanning a WindChat QR code. Send text, images, files, voice notes, or location when you choose to share it. Delivery and read indicators appear when the other person is reachable. Archive conversations you want out of the main inbox without deleting them.
4. Profile and contacts
Open Profile from the header to edit your name, photo, and account list. Contacts can be matched from your address book if you grant permission — we use numbers for matching, not for advertising. Your QR code lets others start a chat with you quickly.
5. Privacy and security
Traffic uses HTTPS/TLS. Native apps encrypt API payloads and sign requests. Passwords and OTP secrets are stored with bcrypt. In Security settings you can enable App lock (Face ID / Touch ID on this device only), Screen protection (hides chats and profile during screen recording or mirroring), and All accounts (when several accounts are signed in, Nearby, location history, and presence can stay active for each; push notifications always arrive for every account). WindChat is not end-to-end encrypted: the service processes messages to deliver them. Full details are in the Privacy Policy on windchat.net.
6. Notifications
Enable notifications in system Settings so you receive alerts for new messages. You can mute a chat or adjust notification preferences in the app when those controls are available. If alerts stop, check that WindChat still has notification permission and that battery optimizations are not blocking background delivery.
7. Deleting your data
To remove your account and associated personal data, follow the Data Deletion instructions on windchat.net or contact support at support@windchat.net with your registered phone number. We verify ownership before processing deletion requests.

For product help or account issues, email support@windchat.net and include your registered phone number and a short description of the problem. You can also use the Contact page on windchat.net. We aim to reply on business days within a reasonable time.
